Estimating and Decomposing the TFP Growth of Service-Oriented Manufacturing in China: A Translogarithmic Stochastic Frontier Approach

By constructing a translogarithmic stochastic frontier production model, this study explores the total factor productivity (TFP) of service-oriented manufacturing in 30 provinces China during 2004–2020. We carried out decomposition analysis to understand greater depth potential drivers TFP growth. The results show that overall continuously improved sample period; however, growth rate showed significant slowing trend, and contribution output is still low. industrial mainly driven by capital input, transformation its mode from extensive intensive has not yet been realized. Furthermore, there exists regional sub-sectoral heterogeneity industry. shows technological progress technical efficiency are main sources growth, but declining gradually, driving effect on weakening. deterioration both scale allocation hinders improvement manufacturing, room for industry improve level improving efficiency.
